The Mouth
There is a space at the back of the throat … a small, tender opening where breath, voice, and life converge. This space has always haunted me. It is where words are born and swallowed, where cries are stifled, where silence takes shape.
This work began with an unexplainable desire: to show a film inside my mouth. As I followed that impulse, buried layers surfaced — my mother’s voice, my own voice calling for her, memories of love intertwined with betrayal. The tongue that speaks tenderness is the same tongue that holds rage. The mouth that sings is the mouth that swallows silence.
The Mouth is my attempt to give form to what we are told not to say, to the stories hidden inside us. It is about mothers and daughters, silence and speech, and the fragile opening where pain, memory, and longing gather — and what it means to finally let them be seen.
